Discover Lao Sze Chuan Milford

If you're in Milford, Connecticut, and craving authentic Szechuan cuisine, Lao Sze Chuan Milford is the place to be. Located at 1585 Boston Post Rd, Milford, CT 06460, this restaurant brings the bold and vibrant flavors of China’s Szechuan province straight to your table. The interior blends modern comfort with traditional touches, creating an inviting atmosphere that sets the tone for the delicious food you're about to enjoy. The menu is extensive, showcasing a wide variety of Szechuan dishes, each prepared with the freshest ingredients and a perfect balance of bold flavors.

A popular choice among regulars is the signature mapo tofu. This dish is a staple of Szechuan cuisine, and Lao Sze Chuan’s version is nothing short of spectacular. The tofu is silky smooth, and the sauce is perfectly balanced with just the right amount of heat. It’s a must-try for anyone who enjoys the fiery kick of Szechuan peppercorns, which deliver a numbing sensation that adds depth to the overall flavor profile.

If you're in the mood for something with a little more crunch, the Szechuan dry-fried string beans are a fan favorite. These beans are stir-fried to perfection, maintaining their crisp texture while being coated in a savory sauce that’s both spicy and aromatic. The dish is a perfect example of how Lao Sze Chuan brings together different textures and flavors to create a harmonious meal.

Lao Sze Chuan is also known for its outstanding hand-pulled noodles, which are made fresh daily. These noodles are thick, chewy, and the perfect base for any of their signature sauces. Whether you opt for the Chongqing spicy chicken noodles or the beef noodle soup, the handmade noodles add a satisfying element to the dish that’s hard to beat.

  • This restaurant has a very nostalgic vibe to it. Minimal decoration and it’s basically come in, eat, and leave. The menu is rather extensive and authentic. The egg roll and general Tsao chicken were amazing, very fresh, tenders and flavorful. The grill was great. The boneless ribs were disappointing and cold. They didn’t serve tea but I think you could buy it. The prices were reasonable. We order a lunch plate and it was $12.00 for a soup, egg roll, entree and choice of rice.the vegetable fried rice was just okay. The wonton broth was very good but the wonton dough was too thick. I do strongly recommend this place.

  • A hidden gem! The prices are fair, the portions are large and the food is authentic, fresh, and flavorful. Everyone enjoyed what they ordered and we can’t wait to go back. I was PLEASANTLY surprised by the Chinese Cucumber Pickled in Vinegar because I don’t not like cucumbers, but it was on the table so I tried it and WOW! You have to get it with a side of chili oil (trust me). It was so good , I got an order to go.

  • Some of the best Chinese food I've had. We got Dan Dan noodles (mild) and beef fried rice. Total, after tip, was $29. Portion size for fried rice was good. Dan Dan was a bit larger and we didn't finish all of the noodles. Not sure why this place has 4.4. Pricing is fair, service was fast, authentic tasting, no hassle. Will be going back.

  • 10/10 This is the best traditional Szechuan Chinese restaurant in CT! Great to see it’s still top notch. The food is incredible, as is the service and atmosphere. They’re very friendly and kind. I usually don’t get to try spicy Szechuan dishes because of my peanut allergy but they took good care of me! This is the first time we’ve tried their beef hotpot and it was divine! We ate so much but felt very ‘clean/healthy-full’ as nothing was heavy and everything was so fresh. Also the portions are big. Can’t wait to go back. (What we ordered in the picture captions)

  • I needed my authentic Chinese fix, and this Lao Sze Chuan was a delightful find. The appetizer Szechuan dumplings in red chili sauce were incredibly tasty; I can eat 2 orders myself. The chili sauce was so good it enhances pretty much anything you dip into it. The West Lake beef soup is an all-time favorite of mine, as usual: light, comforting, and delicious. BF enjoyed the cumin lamb, and I had the steamed striped bass… wow! It was so good I can’t find words to describe it. Bok choy with garlic stir-fry was a good addition for a healthy meal. I’d be here weekly if it weren’t a 50-minute drive. City of Danbury doesn’t have much to offer when it comes to great authentic Chinese food. Sadly, I’d have to drive farther to satisfy my palate. Service was fast, friendly, and the restaurant has a nice cozy ambiance. 5 stars!

  • My wife and I stopped in this past weekend for a quick bite since New Haven was absolutely swarmed by Yale undergrad move in. The renovations have really gone quite far in modernizing the location. My parents used to come here for well over a decade before the new ownership took over. I had grown accustomed to the plastic sheeted menus but it is fantastic to see new technology being embraced and used competently. The food is great as its always been. The bamboo shoots and tripe were generously seasoned with real flavorful chili oil unlike a lot of other chinese establishments in the area. The food is treated right and you get the full flavor palate that it deserves. The wonton soup broth was rich and not the usual one note salty water you find locally around here. The wonton skin thickness was excellent and reminds me of a homestyle wonton soup. The fried rice was not at all clumpy and flavor was very balanced. All too often in these parts you run into oily clumpy rice soaked in salt. Finally the cumin shortrib used actual cumin seeds. A lot of the local spots cheap out and just use cumin powder and frankly it just doesn’t taste the same. Aside from the now closed Great Wall in new haven (and no Chef Jiang is not the same) this is really the last truly authentic spot on the shoreline.

  • We have been talking about this place ever since we came here for lunch yesterday. The food was fresh, flavorful, and absolutely fantastic. We ordered the lo mein extra spicy and the braised tofu. Both were excellent, and the tofu dish was one of the best I've tried. We normally can never finish our food but we cleaned our plates!

  • I loved how quickly we got to place our order, which was in eight minutes, and got my mapo tofu within 15 minutes. The string beans and mapo tofu were so mouth watering. I recommend eating it.
